Ground source heat pumps are rare. Our installers aren't.
A geothermal heat pump draws steady heat from a loop buried in your ground, rather than from the outside air. Few Irish installers take on the ground works and the heat pump together. We do both, and it still qualifies for up to €12,500 from SEAI.

Why geothermal, and why Efficient Renewables
Steadier efficiency than air to water
A ground loop sits at a more constant temperature than the outside air, so the heat pump doesn't have to work as hard through the coldest months.
Rare in Ireland
Few installers in Ireland take on the ground works a geothermal system needs. We plan and install both the loop and the heat pump ourselves.
Same grant as air to water
Geothermal can qualify for the same individual heat pump grant as air to water, up to €12,500 on an eligible house. You apply directly to SEAI, and we guide you through the requirements.
How a geothermal system heats your home
Three parts working together: a loop in the ground, a heat pump indoors, and your existing radiators or underfloor heating.
The ground loop
Pipework buried in your garden or a borehole collects steady, low-grade heat from the ground, whatever the weather is doing above it.
The heat pump
The indoor unit takes that ground heat and upgrades it to a usable temperature for your home, using a small amount of electricity to do it.
Your heating and hot water
The heat pump feeds your radiators, underfloor heating or hot water cylinder, the same as any other heating system would.

When geothermal makes more sense than air to water
Geothermal costs more to install because of the ground works, but it suits certain homes better. New builds with a large site, houses with enough garden for a loop, or self-builders planning the ground works from the start all get more from geothermal than an air to water system would give them. We'll tell you straight which one fits your site.
Up to €12,500 back from SEAI, same as air to water
Geothermal can qualify for the same individual heat pump grant as air to water, up to €12,500 on an eligible house. You apply directly to SEAI, and we guide you and supply the contractor documentation.
How a geothermal installation works
We plan and install both the ground loop and the heat pump ourselves.
- Step 01
Free home assessment
We assess your garden size, ground conditions, insulation and heat distribution to confirm whether geothermal suits your site.
- Step 02
Ground loop design
We design the horizontal loop, vertical loop or borehole around the ground available and the heat your home needs.
- Step 03
Ground works and installation
The pipework is installed in the garden or borehole and connected to the indoor Ecoforest heat pump.
- Step 04
Commissioning
We connect, commission and test the system with your radiators, underfloor heating or hot water cylinder.

Questions about geothermal heat pumps.
Plain answers to the things people ask us most. If yours is not here, just call or send an enquiry.
It depends on your garden size and ground conditions. We assess this during the free home assessment and tell you if a horizontal loop, vertical loop or borehole suits your site, or if air to water is the better fit.
Yes, the ground works add to the install cost. The same grant applies to both, up to €12,500 on a house, so the gap after the grant is smaller than the gap before it.
It can, provided the site has room for the ground works and your existing heat distribution, radiators or underfloor, suits the lower flow temperature a heat pump runs at. We check both during the assessment.
There's more ground disruption than an air to water install, mainly to the garden or site while the loop goes in. We talk you through the timeline and the reinstatement before work starts.
The same as any individual heat pump grant: you apply directly to SEAI and wait for approval before work starts. We guide you, provide our registered contractor details and supply the installation documents required for the claim.
Geothermal typically runs at a steadier efficiency than air to water, which can mean a further saving over oil. Your actual figure depends on your home's insulation and heat distribution, so we give you a home-specific estimate rather than a general number.
