Efficient Renewables is looking for an experienced solar professional to take ownership of installation quality, fault finding and technical support across our domestic and commercial solar projects.

This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong electrical background who can diagnose problems, maintain high installation standards and help our teams deliver reliable systems and excellent customer service.

Purpose of the role

To ensure our solar PV, battery storage and associated equipment are installed, commissioned and handed over correctly, while resolving technical issues and preventing repeat faults.

Main responsibilities

Quality control

  • Inspect installations during works and following completion, checking workmanship, safety, equipment positioning, cable management, labelling and commissioning.
  • Check that installations meet applicable electrical regulations, SEAI requirements and manufacturers’ instructions.
  • Review testing records, commissioning information, photographs and customer handover documentation.
  • Record defects, assign corrective actions and verify that outstanding work is completed.
  • Work with roofing and electrical crews to maintain consistent standards across every installation.

Fault finding and technical support

  • Diagnose and resolve faults involving solar panels, inverters, batteries, monitoring systems, hot-water diverters and associated equipment.
  • Investigate issues such as low generation, battery charging problems, incorrect CT readings, communication failures and system alarms.
  • Check system settings, charging schedules and tariff arrangements to ensure the equipment operates as intended.
  • Provide telephone, remote and on-site technical support to installers and customers.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers on technical queries, warranty claims and replacement equipment.
  • Coordinate remedial visits and keep customers informed until their issue is resolved.

Installer training and improvement

  • Deliver practical training on installation, commissioning, fault finding and customer handovers.
  • Develop and maintain installation checklists and clear technical procedures.
  • Identify recurring faults and address their causes through training and improvements to working practices.
  • Ensure customers receive a clear explanation of their system, monitoring app and operating settings.
  • Work closely with project managers, sales, stores and installation teams to flag issues early.

Reporting and accountability

  • Maintain accurate inspection and service records in the company’s systems.
  • Report weekly on inspections, outstanding defects, customer issues and recurring problems.
  • Track corrective actions through to completion.
  • Highlight equipment or installation concerns that require management attention.

Experience and skills required

  • A recognised electrical qualification and strong practical experience with solar PV and battery storage.
  • Proven ability to test, diagnose and resolve electrical and system faults safely.
  • Experience commissioning inverters, batteries and monitoring equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant installation standards, electrical safety and solar grant requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and the confidence to challenge poor workmanship.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers.
  • Ability to organise site visits, prioritise urgent issues and follow work through to completion.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Experience with Solis inverters and batteries, Eddi, Harvi and EV charging equipment would be an advantage, as would previous experience supervising or training installers.

What success looks like

  • Installations consistently pass quality inspections.
  • Faults are diagnosed accurately and resolved promptly.
  • Repeat faults and return visits reduce.
  • Commissioning and handover records are complete.
  • Installers understand and follow the required standards.
